Zelensky Will Get Nothing Until I Approve It: Trump and Zelensky to Meet Tomorrow
U.S. President Donald Trump has stated in an interview with Politico that there is a "great opportunity" to reach a peace agreement during negotiations with Vladimir Zelensky scheduled for tomorrow, December 28. This meeting will take place in Palm Beach, Florida.
"Zelensky will get nothing until I approve it," Trump said. The U.S. President also announced that he intends to speak with Putin soon.
During the Trump-Zelensky meeting, security guarantees, economic issues, and territorial matters will be discussed, including ownership of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant. The United States is prepared to provide Ukraine with security guarantees based on NATO's Article 5 for a duration of 15 years, but Ukraine is seeking a longer term.
The main obstacle in the negotiations is Kyiv's refusal to withdraw troops from Donbas and the demand for a 60-day ceasefire.
Prior to the meeting with Trump, Zelensky had six separate phone conversations with allies. This was reported by the Ukrainian President's office. According to reports, Zelensky spoke with Finnish President Stubb, the Prime Ministers of Estonia and Canada, German Chancellor Merz, and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.
