We Are Accused of Revanchism or Inciting War: Shahramanyan

It is impossible to consider the issue of the return of Artsakh residents and the "imaginary issue of Western Azerbaijan" on the same level, as the Armenian authorities do, and thus, questions regarding this matter should be directed to them. This was stated by Samvel Shahramanyan during a conversation with reporters.

He mentioned that the return of Armenians to Artsakh is a matter of international law. "We are raising that question, and we are being accused of revanchism or inciting war. I want everyone to know clearly that no one understands the price of peace better than the people of Artsakh. We have stated that we are in favor of peace; it is impossible to be against it. We raise questions that arise from the perspective of international law.

It has been discussed a lot that the Republic of Armenia has never recognized the independence of Artsakh. I want to say that this is not true and does not correspond to reality. The ruling authorities of the Republic of Armenia at various times, including the current ones, have factually recognized Artsakh as an independent state on different platforms. We have had inter-state agreements, and cooperation has taken place on various platforms. You are aware that representatives of the current authorities also participated in the presidential inauguration in 2020. Therefore, the authorities of today should be asked what the reason is for their refusal of their previous actions," Shahramanyan added.
