Cyprus Ambassador Summoned by Iran's Foreign Ministry Over Joint Statement with UAE Officials

In Tehran, Cyprus Ambassador Petros Nakouzis has been summoned by Iran's Foreign Ministry, where Deputy Foreign Minister Mohammad Alibek delivered a note of protest to the diplomat. This was reported by the Tasnim agency.

The cause of Iran's displeasure stems from a joint statement made by Cyprus and UAE officials, which Tehran has deemed an interference in its internal affairs. Deputy Minister Alibek reminded the Cyprus ambassador that the three islands—Greater Tunb, Lesser Tunb, and Abu Musa—are an inseparable part of Iranian territory and that the sovereignty of the Islamic Republic of Iran over these three islands is beyond doubt.

He also emphasized that Iran strongly condemns any demands directed against its territorial integrity, viewing them as a violation of the fundamental principle of respecting national sovereignty and the territorial integrity of states. He urged the Cypriot side to 'immediately rectify this gross error and refrain from such actions in the future.'
