Armenian Ambassador to Iran on Activation of Armenia-Turkey Contacts
There has been significant progress in the process of normalizing relations with Turkey, and if this momentum is maintained, it will be possible to create a new, more integrated and predictable environment in the region, which is of exceptional importance for both Armenia and the entire region.
Grigor Hakobyan, the Armenian Ambassador to Iran, stated this during an interview with the Tasnim agency.
“Recently, we have indeed witnessed an activation of Armenia-Turkey contacts. These interactions are taking place at almost all levels, including between the leaders of the two countries, foreign ministers, and special representatives, as well as among the relevant foreign policy and sectoral agencies,” he noted.
Hakobyan emphasized that Armenia is consistently continuing its constructive engagement in the normalization process, aiming to establish diplomatic relations, open the border, and unblock all infrastructure.
The ambassador also pointed out the critical importance of the reactivation of the Gjumri-Kars railway from the perspective of regional connectivity. “Along with the ‘TRIP’ project, it will form a unified railway network linking the three countries of the South Caucasus and neighboring regions. I am pleased to report that just days ago, representatives from the relevant institutions of both countries held the second round of technical discussions aimed at the restoration and operation of that railway, which attests to the ongoing and practical nature of the process,” said Hakobyan.
