Maduro Informs the U.S. That He Is Ready to Resign Within 18 Months
Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro has announced his willingness to resign within 18 months during unofficial negotiations with U.S. officials. This was reported by CNN, citing sources from TASS.
According to Maduro, his administration reached out to representatives of U.S. President Donald Trump with the aim of establishing dialogue between the countries. It has been noted that some American officials consider such a resignation proposal acceptable for resolving the conflict between Caracas and Washington.
However, the White House ultimately insisted on the immediate resignation of the Venezuelan president. On November 29, U.S. President Donald Trump announced on the Truth Social platform that the airspace over Venezuela would be closed. Washington accuses the Venezuelan authorities of insufficient efforts to combat illegal drug trafficking. Since September, U.S. forces have reportedly destroyed at least 20 motor vessels in the region, resulting in over 80 fatalities.
