Azerbaijan Remains Vigilant on Restrictions Imposed Against Russia: Presidential Assistant

Azerbaijan has provided more than 40 million dollars in support to Ukraine since 2022, including humanitarian aid, involvement in reconstruction programs, and initiatives for the rehabilitation of Ukrainian children. This information was shared by Hikmet Hajiyev, assistant to the President of Azerbaijan and head of the foreign policy department of the presidential administration, in an interview with EU Today in Brussels.

According to him, the rehabilitation program for children is ongoing, and Azerbaijan views it as part of its humanitarian obligations. Hajiyev simultaneously noted that Baku has not participated in and does not intend to engage in the military aspect of the Ukrainian conflict.

Speaking on the topic of sanctions, Hajiyev stated that Azerbaijan is vigilant regarding the imposed restrictions and denied allegations that the country is helping Russia to circumvent them. He added that Baku and Moscow have not significantly increased bilateral trade volume since 2022.

Addressing regional trade flows, Hajiyev referred to the increase in trade between Russia and Armenia, noting that it is primarily based on re-export. According to him, these flows are not related to the production of new industrial goods.
