Updates on the Homeless Dog Issue in Yerevan: Hakob Karapetyan

The spokesperson for the Yerevan City Hall, Hakob Karapetyan, wrote on his Facebook page:

“A few updates regarding the resolution of the homeless dog issue in Yerevan: Following the Mayor's instructions, steps are being taken to enhance the resources and capabilities of the 'Stray Animal Neutralization Center' municipal agency. Specifically, the organization’s professional staff and work methodologies are being expanded. In addition to nets, special rifles will be used to capture the animals, which will then be TRANQUILIZED and transferred to clinics for sterilization and vaccination.

New temporary shelters are being constructed adjacent to the agency's newly built clinic, where the animals will be held until they are sterilized and vaccinated. In the coming weeks, the agency’s clinic and associated infrastructure will be put into operation; the clinic is located within the administrative district of Erebuni.

For the city authorities, the primary goal is public safety, while simultaneously addressing the issue through humanitarian methods, within the framework of the Republic of Armenia's current legislation.”
