It Becomes Clear from the Recording That the Real Traits Resembling the 'Number 37' Are Inside the Church, Says MP from CP
Alkhas Ghazaryan, a member of the Civil Contract faction in the National Assembly, made a post on his Facebook page. He addressed the audio recording circulating on the internet, in which Archabishop Nathan Hovhannisyan and former advisor to Karekin II, Abbot Aghan Yernjakyan are speaking.
The content of the recording indicates that Karekin II has forced church officials to participate in anti-government protests, against which some clergymen have revolted.
"The audio recording circulated on social networks today once again testifies that the Armenian Apostolic Holy Church has been usurped by a 'spiritual junta,' who have established their thuggish and criminal morals within the church. Those who genuinely wish to serve God and the people face a peculiar inquisition from Kotrch and his 'inquisitors.' This recording further proves that it is Kotrch, along with his inner circle, who is corrupting the Church and involving it in political games.
Some political circles aligned with Kotrch in Armenia claim that the 'Number 37' reigns in the country, while the published recording makes it clear that the real traits resembling 'Number 37' are precisely within the Church. Kotrch is exerting pressure in a manner befitting a tyrant and exacting personal revenge against the clergymen who refuse to follow his essentially criminal orders.
P.S. By the way, the statement issued by the Mother See makes it clear that they have not denied the authenticity of the published recording," Ghazaryan wrote.
In the statement released by the Mother See, it is stated: "The dissemination of such expressions attributed to the Catholicos of all Armenians aims to discredit and incite animosity against the Church and its clergy. The breach of confidentiality in telephone conversations is itself a crime and a separate issue to which we hope law enforcement agencies will respond appropriately."
