VIDEO: Pashinyan Quickly Leaves the Hall Accompanied by Bodyguards
During a session of the National Assembly today, April 20, an incident occurred when security personnel attempted to forcibly remove opposition MPs who were conducting a protest by the podium, prompting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, who was seated in the hall, to leave quickly under the escort of bodyguards.
It is noteworthy that independent MP Taguhi Tovmasyan announced during her speech in the National Assembly that she was staging a political protest and would not step down from the podium. “I will not step down from the podium; I will not allow you to spread lies from the country’s number one podium, to question the Armenian identity of Artsakh and the history of the Armenian people. Enough, wake up and understand the degree of your responsibility. Shots are being fired in Sotk, and you are here talking about your achievements. What have you come for, to discuss the budget execution?” Tovmasyan stated.
Following this, a session break was called under the instruction of Alen Simonyan, and opposition MPs were forcibly removed. After the session resumed, Alen Simonyan announced that ten opposition MPs had received warnings and would not be able to return to the session hall until the end of the day. “Taguhi Tovmasyan, Gegham Manukyan, Garnik Danielyan, Anna Mkrtchyan, Hayk Mamijanyan, Anna Grigoryan, Tigran Abrahamyan, Taron Margaryan, Artur Sargsyan, and Andranik Tevanyan are banned from the upcoming sessions of the day, being deprived of their right to be present in the hall during this time,” Alen Simonyan declared after the session resumed.
