The situation escalated in the National Assembly after the speech of independent MP Taguhi Tovmasyan. "My time is up, but I'm not leaving the podium; I am carrying out a political action," announced Tovmasyan.

Joining her action near the podium were the leader of the 'I Have Honor' faction, Hayk Mamijanyan, and faction member Anna Mkrtchyan.

National Assembly President Alen Simonyan demanded that the microphone be turned off, then called for security personnel from the National Assembly session hall. A scuffle broke out between the MPs and the security personnel.

One of the opposition MPs yelled from the hall that they could spit, to which Alen Simonyan responded, "If necessary, I will spit too."
