Sebastien Lecornu Reappointed as Prime Minister of France After Recent Resignation
French President Emmanuel Macron has reappointed Sebastien Lecornu as Prime Minister, just four days after he resigned and subsequently announced that he no longer wished to lead the government.
The Elysee Palace announced Lecornu's reappointment immediately after the 48-hour period granted to him by Macron expired.
Following the Elysee Palace announcement, Lecornu wrote on X that he accepts the "mission entrusted to him with a sense of duty."
His unexpected reappointment on Friday afternoon followed a meeting between the president and leaders of all political parties represented in parliament. The aim of the meeting was to coordinate the new government’s plans, which would enable the passage of the budget with the support of a parliamentary majority by the end of the year.
