Kılıç Announces Intent to Visit Yerevan
The special representative of Turkey on the normalization of relations with Armenia, Kılıç, has announced his intention to visit Yerevan as part of ongoing negotiations. He emphasized the importance of discussing economic cooperation between the two countries.
Kılıç paid particular attention to the so-called "Zangezur Corridor" project, calling it a communication line of strategic importance. According to the Turkish representative, the corridor will provide direct access not only between Turkey and Armenia but also throughout Central Asia and Turkic republics.
"I hope that in the short term, we will be able to open this route, thereby contributing to the development of both Armenian-Turkish relations and the economies of regions such as Iğdır and Kars," he added.
Kılıç also noted that the Armenian side is "warmly inclined" towards the initiative and has expressed readiness to open the border. However, he emphasized that technical issues need to be resolved for several projects to be implemented.
