Man Killed in Kapan After Multiple Blows to the Head with a Hammer over Debt Dispute

On August 28, a resident of Kapan called the operational management center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, reporting that he had discovered the body of his 49-year-old uncle in an apartment on Hunan Avetisyan Street. The body was bloodied and had head injuries. This information was provided by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

A criminal case was initiated on the grounds of murder. As a result of operational-search measures conducted by the main division of criminal police and the Syunik regional department, it was established that on August 27, around 8:30 PM, a dispute over debt arose between the 49-year-old victim and a 42-year-old local man, during which the latter struck the victim multiple times on the head with a hammer, causing death. He then tampered with items in the house to create the appearance of theft.

The 42-year-old resident of Kapan was discovered and arrested on August 29, and presented to the Syunik regional investigation department, where he gave a confession. The hammer used in the crime has been found. An investigation is underway.
