29-Year-Old Arrested on Suspicion of Stabbing a 31-Year-Old Man

On September 26, 2021, at 21:25, a report was received from the "Erebuni Medical Center" regarding a 31-year-old man who had sought medical assistance for stab wounds to the left side of his body. This information was provided by the Investigative Committee.

Preliminary data indicates that the victim sustained these injuries during a dispute that erupted over verbal insults near a public catering point on Artashat Highway in Yerevan.

In connection with the incident, the Investigative Department of the Shengavit administrative district of Yerevan has initiated a criminal case under the first part of Article 112 of the RA Criminal Code. The investigation has been assigned to an investigative group.

As a result of investigative and other procedural actions, as well as operational-search measures, several circumstances of the incident have been clarified, including the identity of the individual allegedly committing the crime, a 29-year-old resident of Yerevan.

The suspect has been arrested on suspicion of intentionally causing serious harm to a fellow citizen and has been interrogated about the circumstances of the incident, providing a self-incriminating testimony.

During the preliminary investigation, a search of the crime scene was conducted, during which blood-like traces were found, samples were taken, and the clothing worn by the victim at the time of the incident was seized. Several individuals have been interrogated.

To clarify significant circumstances of the criminal case, forensic medical and forensic trace examinations have been appointed. The investigation is ongoing. Measures are being undertaken to clarify all circumstances of the incident, to ensure an objective and comprehensive inquiry, to find the knife that served as the instrument of the crime, and to verify the circumstances indicated in the testimonies.
