Macron and Tokayev Discuss Current Situation in South Caucasus
Kazakhstan's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has had a phone conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron, during which they discussed the current situation in the South Caucasus and bilateral cooperation.
Macron announced this on the social media platform X. “I had a phone conversation with Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. We discussed strengthening our strategic partnership, particularly in the fields of transport and energy, following my visit to Kazakhstan in November 2023 and President Tokayev’s state visit to France last November. We also addressed the international situation, including Russia’s war in Ukraine and ongoing negotiations in the South Caucasus,” Macron said.
The press service of the Kazakh president emphasized that the phone conversation was initiated by the French side.
