Drug Smuggled into Armenia: Four Individuals Arrested

In a significant operation, authorities have uncovered that a total of 15 kilograms of drugs were smuggled into Armenia from Iran. A portion of the drugs was intended for distribution within Armenian territory, while the remaining part, specifically 4.3 kilograms of marijuana, was reportedly destined for Georgia via illegal routes.

The Armenian Investigative Committee's department for serious crimes, focusing on human trafficking, sexual misconduct against minors, and illegal drug trafficking, initiated an investigation based on factual data gathered during the inquiry.

During the investigation, it was revealed that two suspects, identified as G.A. and A.M., attempted to acquire 95.43 grams of marijuana and 96.43 grams of methamphetamine, which had been smuggled into Armenia. However, they were apprehended by officers from the Armenian Ministry of Internal Affairs.

On the same day, two other individuals, A.K. and M.O., were also arrested while attempting to transport the 4.3 kilograms of marijuana intended for smuggling into Georgia. They were unable to cross the border due to their unexpected capture.

The criminal proceedings against the four individuals have been sent to the supervisory prosecutor with the indictment conclusion.
