Fled the Country Before Criminal Case Initiation: Details
The head of the Investigative Committee of Armenia, Artur Poghosyan, informed reporters that several individuals involved in a case of tax evasion at various gas stations have left Armenia prior to the initiation of a criminal case. He noted that they could not be arrested upon leaving the country because there were no grounds for such action at that time. Currently, a search warrant has been issued for them.
"The investigation is ongoing, and we are clarifying the circumstances regarding how these enterprises concealed their turnover. We already have facts, and a portion of the money (unpaid taxes - ed.) has been reimbursed," said Poghosyan.
It is noteworthy that the criminal case relates to V.K. (Vilik Karapetyan, son of former MP Karo Karapetyan) who is suspected of failing to pay approximately 1.3 billion drams in taxes. Earlier, the Investigative Committee of Armenia indicated that V.K. equipped the fuel tankers in a way that concealed part of their capacity. Additionally, on his orders, there was interference with the software of the gas station meters, resulting in the display of reduced figures.
