One Denies, the Other Confirms: What is Happening with Rutube in Turkey

The Turkish BTK regulator has announced the blocking of Russian Rutube video hosting in Turkey.

The Rutube website is inaccessible in Turkey, with access blocked by various mobile operators and home internet providers. When attempting to open the site, a message appears stating: “Access to rutube.ru is blocked by decision of BTK dated February 25, 2025.” Instead of the website, sections of Turkey's criminal code appear on the screen, warning that “illegal gambling can be used to finance terrorism.”

However, the Russian Rutube video hosting has denied reports of being blocked in Turkey. “This information is not accurate; RUTUBE operates in Turkey,” the company clarified. They added that the difficulties might be related to the peculiarities of local providers' operations.
