Artak Beglaryan Responds to Alen Simonian's Statement
Yes, I am very serious, I will sue those individuals who will decide to withdraw the complaints filed for the protection of the rights of an entire people (including mine) from international courts. This was stated by the former Human Rights Defender of the Republic of Artsakh, former Prime Minister Artak Beglaryan on his Facebook page.
“In response to Alen Simonian's half-baked manipulations regarding my statement: Yes, I am very serious, I will sue those individuals who will decide to withdraw the complaints filed for the protection of the rights of an entire people (including mine) from international courts. Keep in mind that I have to sue the Republic of Armenia because you hide behind the cloak of state bodies while making your absolutely wrong and criminal decisions. In any case, ultimately, those judicial acts will be directed against the individuals who made those decisions.
Unlike you, I have long helped and continue to help many people to sue the Azerbaijani state and its criminals, who have fired at us. Just because I am not tearing my throat out and beating my chest does not mean that I am sitting idly by. By the way, I should mention that I have previously greatly assisted the authorized bodies of the Republic of Armenia in gathering substantial evidence for the interstate complaints against Azerbaijan presented in international forums, which you illegally and frivolously refuse.
Can you say by what right you close all possible avenues for the protection of the collective and individual rights of your taxpayers and voters? Just take a look in the mirror and perhaps you will understand to whom you should direct your accusations against me.
Do you want to say that state officials can do whatever they please, while citizens have no right to protect their rights in court against illegal decisions? Seriously, gentlemen, it seems that all those who fight against the criminal actions of the state bodies of the Republic of Armenia have deviated too much from your citizen model...
Instead of understanding my real intentions, just understand your own intentions when making such disgraceful decisions. My intention and motivation are very clear: to once again prove that the function of the state is to protect the rights of its citizens, not to violate them, especially on such a large scale.
If you do not want to face mass lawsuits, the result of which will document the criminal nature of your decisions, then do not withdraw the complaints filed in international forums. Instead of threatening your own citizens and taxpayers and implementing the enemy's orders, just fulfill your obligations and ensure the protection of our rights, including through the most civilized international mechanisms.
Would you kindly refresh my memory of which of those living off the taxpayers’ money was the one who disgracefully spat on their own citizen and taxpayer and took pride in that...? Don’t think that you or any suffering resident of Artsakh are really eager to achieve peace. If you want real and sustainable peace, then strive for fair and dignified solutions, including the investigation and remedying of the human rights violations that have occurred. Only when you provide fair, effective, and adequate solutions to the issues and violations raised in the complaints can you withdraw from those complaints. In other cases, the blame lies on your neck,” he wrote.
