What Price Has Ukraine Paid for the War: Zelensky
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated during a press conference that the conflict with Russia has cost the country $120 billion.
According to Zelensky, there is a discrepancy between the figures from Kyiv and Washington. “The war has cost us $320 billion. Of that, $120 billion we taxpayers, the people of Ukraine, have covered. (An additional) $200 billion is support from the United States and the European Union,” Zelensky shared.
He clarified that the U.S. has provided Ukraine with $67 billion in military aid and $31.5 billion in direct financial assistance to the country's budget, and these figures are less than the $500 billion suggested by Washington, which President Biden would like to see returned as access to natural resources.
