EU Now Demanding Political Loyalty from Armenia, Says Galuzin

The European Union is already demanding political loyalty from Armenia and an alignment with anti-Russian sanctions. This was stated by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin.

“Regarding the issue of starting negotiations on various projects between Armenia and the European Union for the sake of rapprochement, and specifically for a visa-free regime, yes, such negotiations have begun. We see that the EU is also committed here, particularly without making any promises, already demanding political loyalty from Armenia and alignment with anti-Russian sanctions,” he noted.

He also stated that Moscow has clearly indicated the impossibility of simultaneous membership in the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) and the EU for Armenia. “These are completely different systems, and it is simply impossible to be a part of both at the same time,” Galuzin emphasized.

Galuzin noted that Armenia's membership in the EEU brings the country “tangible and significant long-term benefits in terms of increased trade and investment.”
