Here are some facts: The gambling business in Armenia grows year by year, while the number of families victimized by it continues to rise. Recently, it was revealed that a large portion of suicides are among unemployed men, many of whom have fallen into debt due to gambling. International experience shows that this issue is not exclusive to us. In Great Britain, up to 500 suicides are recorded annually due to gambling. In Australia, over 200 families are destroyed in one year because of gambling addiction, and in some states of the USA, 20% of people with gambling tendencies attempt suicide. Research indicates that individuals with gambling addiction are 15 times more likely to commit suicide. At the same time, the gambling sector continues to thrive, generating enormous revenues. Economists assess that this is not economic growth, but a sign of moral and social degradation of society. This issue needs serious attention.
