Avinyan Addresses Air Quality Issues
At a regular operational meeting of the City Hall, it was reported that the amount of undifferentiated dust in the air exceeded the norm by two times in January. Mayor Tigran Avinyan, responding to the report, stated, “Our next important action plan will be dedicated to addressing air quality and the overall issues related to dust in the air. However, the responsibilities of Yerevan City Hall should not be limited to the authority of the mayor; therefore, this must become one of our primary concerns.”
According to the mayor, air quality measuring devices have been installed, revealing issues stemming from both anthropogenic and non-anthropogenic causes. “We need to take effective steps in this direction,” he emphasized.
“The approach that this is solely the responsibility of one ministry or another is unacceptable to me. I consider this a collective responsibility, and first and foremost, it is the responsibility of Yerevan City Hall,” he added.
