Trump to Limit Automatic Citizenship Rights in the U.S.

President Donald Trump has ordered to limit the automatic citizenship rights in the U.S. for all those born on the country's soil. However, experts note that the principle of birthright citizenship is enshrined in the U.S. Constitution and cannot be revoked by a presidential executive order.

In response to this decision, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) has filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration. The case will be heard in the federal district court of New Hampshire.

"Declaring citizenship for those born in this country is not only about upholding the Constitution but also about ensuring that they are part of American values," stated the ACLU.

Additionally, attorneys general from 22 states, as well as the city of San Francisco and the District of Columbia, have filed lawsuits attempting to block Trump's executive order that limits the right to citizenship by birth.

Several non-governmental organizations advocating for migrant rights in Massachusetts and New Hampshire have also filed lawsuits to declare Trump’s order unconstitutional.
