The Carter Center, a non-governmental organization, confirmed on Sunday the death of former U.S. President Jimmy Carter, who served from 1977 to 1981. This news was reported by TASS.

“Our founder, former U.S. President Jimmy Carter, passed away today in Plains, Georgia,” the organization stated on its X page.

Earlier, The Washington Post reported on Carter's death, citing his son, James Carter. He mentioned that his father died on Sunday at their home in Georgia, but did not disclose the cause of death.

Carter, who turned 100 years old on October 1, was also reported on by the local The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. According to the publication, the Democrat Carter was able to “alter the understanding of presidents' lives after their terms end.”
