Dozens of Employees from Georgia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs Issue Joint Statement

Dozens of employees from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia have issued a joint statement regarding the government's intention to suspend the country's European integration process. They believe that the government's decision contradicts the Constitution of Georgia and the national interests of the country.

“As diplomats, our primary obligation is to protect the national interests of Georgia and to adhere to the Constitution. Georgian diplomacy has long exerted all efforts to connect Georgia with European and Euro-Atlantic structures, which reflect the will and historical choice of the Georgian people,” the statement read.

It was noted that Kobakhidze's announcement about removing the issue of EU membership from the agenda until 2028 does not align with the country's strategic interests. The diplomats believe that prolonging the negotiation process for EU membership will lead to Georgia's isolation. Without the support of Western partners, the country remains alone in facing threats.
