The candidate for President of the United States, Donald Trump, has had a phone conversation with Catholicos Aram I of the Great House of Cilicia. This was stated in a message from the Catholicosate.

President Trump highly valued the leadership of His Holiness Aram I, who recently completed a tour of the United States, and reaffirmed his support for the Artsakh Armenians and his commitment to peace in the region. He also commended the Armenian-American community as strong, intelligent, and dynamic.

In response, His Holiness Catholicos Aram I expressed gratitude to Mr. Trump for his public statements supporting the Armenian people and emphasized the vital importance of U.S. global leadership at this critical moment. His Holiness expressed great hope that with the arrival of a new administration, the United States will seriously address the issue of Artsakh, particularly regarding the rights of Artsakh Armenians to return, international guarantees of security and status, as well as ensuring accountability for ethnic cleansing.

Additionally, His Holiness expressed the need for open dialogue with the active representation of Armenia and the Eastern and Western dioceses of the Armenian Apostolic Church in America, along with the Armenian National Committee of America during the new administration.
