Drinking Water Technicality: EU's Demand to Ukraine

If Ukraine enshrines European standards for drinking water in its legislation, as required for EU membership, all water in the country will be classified as technical. This statement was made by Ukraine's Deputy Minister of Health, Marina Slobodnichenko, as reported by RBC.

“The EU demands that we establish legislation to regulate compliance with certain standards for drinking water. If we register this now, as the EU wants, it will immediately result in the entire country lacking drinking water, and only technical water will be available,” said the official.

According to her, in this case, consumers will pay less for water, which will lead to a reduction in budget revenue.
