Government Decision Regarding Agricultural University

The government decided in its meeting today, October 31, to allocate space from the Armenian National Agrarian University to the French University in Armenia.

The justification for the decision states: "Considering the necessity of improving the higher education system in Armenia in the agrarian sector and the rich experience of France in implementing higher education programs, as well as the desire to benefit from French innovative programs, the parties agree to collaborate in accordance with the Bologna Process. In alignment with the Bologna Process, the internationalization of the Armenian National Agrarian University, including the review and modernization of educational programs and management forms, will be carried out to correspond with international best practices. It is planned to allocate space from the first building attached to the Armenian National Agrarian University in agreement with the French University in Armenia.

Furthermore, it is anticipated that the space allocated to the French University in Armenia, as well as shared spaces to be used in conjunction with the Armenian National Agrarian University, such as a common entrance, staircase, elevator, gym, cafeteria, large auditorium, foyer of the large auditorium, will be renovated with funds from the French University in Armenia.

Simultaneously, it is planned to provide space necessary for the operations of the National University of Architecture and Construction of Armenia, located on the 5th floor of the first building of the Armenian National Agrarian University, from the area allocated to the Armenian National Polytechnic University Foundation. The relevant draft decision of the Armenian government will be circulated by the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sport of the Republic of Armenia after necessary clarifications of initial data.

It is worth mentioning that earlier in the morning, faculty and students opposing the decision to transfer 40 classrooms and laboratories from the Agrarian University to the French University marched towards the government building. Additionally, five deans of the Agrarian University entered the government building for negotiations.
