171.6 Tons of Gold Jewelry: Which Countries Bought the Most Gold

In July-September, Russians acquired 11.7 tons of gold jewelry, exceeding last year's figures by 5.4%. As a result, Russia ranks fourth in the world for demand for gold jewelry, surpassing the UAE, according to data from the World Gold Council cited by RIA Novosti.

India has taken the lead, having purchased 171.6 tons of gold jewelry during the third quarter. This is the highest figure for this reporting period in recent years.

China ranks second, with demand among the Chinese for precious metal jewelry decreasing by one-third during the quarter, amounting to 102.5 tons, marking the weakest outcome since 2010.

The United States rounds out the top three with 27.9 tons.
