Financial Donor Buys Luxury Clothes for UK Prime Minister's Wife; Investigation Launched
The UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer is facing a criminal investigation due to his wife, Victoria, failing to declare expensive clothing purchased for her by a financial donor. This was reported by the Times newspaper.
The publication notes that the Prime Minister has violated parliamentary rules by not disclosing that a multi-millionaire businessman and donor to his party bought luxury clothes for his wife. The donor in question is Wahid Alli, a member of the House of Lords.
It is mentioned that he has covered expenses for the Prime Minister's wife, including personal shopping consultations and clothing, both before and after Starmer took office. Wahid Alli's wealth is estimated to be over $260 million, making him the largest donor to the Labour Party and personally to Starmer.
Previously, the wealthy donor gifted clothing and glasses worth nearly $25,000 to the current UK Prime Minister and also paid for accommodation and office expenses during elections.
The Prime Minister's office has declined to specify the total value of the gifts or the period during which Victoria Starmer received them.
