Video: The Nubarashen Landfill is on Fire, Flames Spreading in Several Pockets
Currently, the Nubarashen landfill is on fire, with flames spreading in several areas. The toxic smoke generated from the waste is affecting the entire city of Yerevan.
In recent years, Yerevan residents have only heard lies and false promises about turning the landfill into a waste recycling plant. It’s another ‘mutilovkan’ from the authorities.
Georg Stepanian, a member of the Yerevan City Council’s ‘Mother Armenia’ faction, wrote on his Facebook page.
In an interview with Radar Armenia, Yerevan Mayor’s press secretary Hayk Kostanyan stated that from the first day of the fire outbreak, the municipal administration and the Ministry of Emergency Situations' rescue service have been carrying out firefighting operations at the Nubarashen landfill.
“Apart from firefighting efforts, the municipal administration is also conducting earthworks in the area to prevent any fire outbreaks. There are pockets emitting smoke, but as such, there is currently no fire,” Kostanyan said.
