China Admits 'Accidental' Damage to Balticconnector by Chinese Vessel
Chinese authorities have admitted that the Chinese vessel Newnew Polar Bear caused damage to the Balticconnector gas pipeline. This was reported by the South China Morning Post on Monday, August 12.
Beijing has acknowledged that the Chinese ship damaged the crucial gas pipeline in the Baltic Sea that connects Estonia and Finland last October, but stated that it was an unfortunate incident.
Chinese officials have conducted an internal investigation and recently shared the findings with European governments, according to the publication.
On April 26, China called for an immediate international investigation into the terrorism that occurred in Nord Stream. They requested that the investigation be conducted under the auspices of the United Nations. Deputy Permanent Representative of China to the UN, Gen Shuang, desires that the truth be confirmed so that it can be heard.
