Pashinyan Excludes Compensation for Flood-Affected Operators Based Solely on Verbal Claims
The Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, has ruled out the possibility of providing compensation to operators affected by the floods in the Lori and Tavush regions based solely on verbal claims. Pashinyan emphasized this during a government meeting discussing the support program for those impacted by the floods.
Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Khachatryan noted that in many cases, operators are unaware that tax reporting forms contain provisions allowing them to accurately report their inventory.
“I do not believe that it is possible to compensate for a stock of goods that is not documented. With all due respect, I exclude that possibility. We have been asking and pleading for six years to calculate in accordance with the law. It is out of the question to provide compensation based solely on verbal claims,” said Pashinyan.
He emphasized that no one should expect to claim verbally that they had goods worth 15 million drams in stock, for example. Once substantiated, the government will adopt a corresponding approach.
The government will provide approximately 300 million drams in support to alleviate the financial burden on operators affected by the floods on May 26 in the Lori and Tavush regions and to help restore their normal activities.
