Gurgene Arsenyan Appointed as Armenia's Ambassador to Russia

Former member of the RA National Assembly from the "Civil Contract" faction, Gurgene Arsenyan has been appointed as Armenia's Ambassador to the Russian Federation. This information has been released on the official website of the President of Armenia.

"Based on the Prime Minister's recommendation, Gurgene Arsenyan is appointed as the extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of the Republic of Armenia in the Russian Federation," stated the decree of RA President Vahagn Khachaturyan.

The ambassador's residence will be in Moscow, the capital of Russia.

It is worth noting that in October 2023, Gurgene Arsenyan confirmed that he had been offered the position of ambassador in Russia, although no response had been given at that time. Later on, media reports indicated that the decision to confirm Arsenyan's agrément was made in May when RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan visited Moscow to participate in an EEU meeting.

Arsenyan submitted his resignation letter on August 6.

Furthermore, prior to this appointment, the ambassador of Armenia to Russia was Vahagn Harutyunyan, who was appointed to the position in January 2022.
