Plane Crash in Chile: Pilot and Six Passengers Killed

A small aircraft crashed in southern Chile, resulting in the deaths of the pilot and six passengers. This was reported by the country's civil aviation authority.

At 3:00 PM, the Piper Navajo aircraft operated by Transportes Aereos San Rafael was located near the Los Orquetas area close to the village of Villa Cerro Castillo, where contact had been lost.

"The unfortunate incident has resulted in the death of the pilot and his six passengers," the statement said. To determine the causes of the incident, the authority has dispatched specialists.

According to BioBio radio, adverse weather conditions were present in the mountainous region at the time of the tragedy. The aircraft was en route from the regional capital of Aysen Coyhaique to the town of Chile Chico, located near the border with Argentina.
