US Arms Shipments to Israel at Record Pace, Says Pentagon Chief

US arms shipments to Israel can be considered at a record pace, said Pentagon Chief Lloyd Austin on Thursday. "In terms of our support for security, it has reached record speed," he stated during a press conference at the Pentagon when asked to comment on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's call to expedite arms transfers.

"We have rapidly transferred weapons and will continue to do so," Austin added. He noted that he would not comment on Netanyahu's remarks.

On Wednesday, Netanyahu, speaking before the US Congress, urged Washington to accelerate arms deliveries to his country. "The acceleration of American military aid can significantly halt the fighting in Gaza and help prevent a wider conflict in the Middle East," he said during his address to the US Congress. "We will finish this job faster if you expedite the transfer of the necessary tools to us," Netanyahu added.
