What Was Discovered in Chicken Meat and Cutlets After the Poisoning Incident Leading to a 4-Year-Old's Death

The Food Safety Inspectorate of Armenia quickly responded to the July 6 poisoning case reported in Goris, Syunik region, taking necessary measures within its jurisdiction. Specifically, on the same day, samples were taken from one of the stores in Goris and a shop in the village of Shinhayr, focusing on the food products consumed by the family members who were hospitalized with a preliminary diagnosis of food poisoning.

Accordingly, laboratory tests were conducted on frozen chicken thighs produced in Russia, chicken meat cutlets, a type of sausage, and wheat flour manufactured in Russia. According to the examination results, pathogenic Salmonella strains were detected in the sample of frozen broiler chicken thighs (manufacturer and supplier: “SPK Kurnikov” LLC, Saratov poultry plant, produced on 04.10.2024, expiration date: 01.10.2025). Meanwhile, the chicken meat cutlets of the brand “Hom Food” did not meet the requirements of the EAEU technical regulations regarding MAFAnMК (mesophilic aerobic and facultative anaerobic bacteria) (producer: JSC Samson Avagyan, Syunik region, produced on 25.05.2024, shelf life: 120 days).

The results of the laboratory tests will be provided to the preliminary investigation body. The inspectorate will carry out supervisory measures with traceability. The results will be published.

Previously, it was reported that all members of a seven-member family in Goris were poisoned, resulting in the death of a 4-year-old child.
