HETC Explains Why Subscribers Are Facing Power Outages
The Armenia Electric Networks Closed Joint-Stock Company informs its subscribers that, "Dear Subscribers,
Currently, work is ongoing to eliminate the aftermath of the major fire at the "Yerevan HPP 1," which is owned by the International Energy Corporation. According to preliminary forecasts, the work is expected to be completed by August 10 of this year.
It should be noted that the Yerevan HPP supplies about 30% of the Central Administrative District of Yerevan and 20% of the Arabkir Administrative District. As of today, this load has been redistributed among the Company’s other substations, and electricity supply is being ensured through alternative schemes using reserve cables. However, under normal conditions, these reserve cables serve as replacements for the main cables. This means that under normal circumstances, in the event of an accident, they would replace the main cables until repairs are made, but now, lacking reserve supply, subscribers are being powered off, and the timelines for eliminating accidents are taking longer than expected.
Considering the large scale of the aforementioned accident, our specialists are working 24/7 to minimize inconvenience for our subscribers. The Company's subscriber service information hotline, operating 1-80, is functioning in a highly loaded emergency mode, receiving numerous calls, many of which, unfortunately, cannot be answered.
We also remind you that information regarding power supply interruptions is available not only through the operator but also through an automated service, where it is necessary to enter the subscriber card or the telephone number associated with the contract.
The company once again requests the forgiveness of its subscribers and assures that it is doing everything possible to ensure uninterrupted power supply under these conditions," the statement concludes.
