The Family Was Preparing to Welcome Him: The Deceased Soldier Returning Home Was the Only Son
20-year-old Armen Mamyann, who died in a car accident while returning home from the army, was from the village of Koti in the Tavush region. Andranik Khakverdian, the administrative head of the village, shared this information in a conversation with NEWS.am.
According to him, the family had been living in Ijevan for several years, but Armen's grandmother resided in the village. “Armen has a younger sister. They lived in Ijevan. His father often went on work trips. It was a hardworking family that earned their daily bread,” Khakverdian recounts.
The administrative head described Armen as a talented young man: “He was a smart boy, sang well, and had a good voice. He participated in all the village events. The entire village loved him, and now no one can believe that something like this has happened. Villagers were saying that his grandmother had ordered a cake with a welcome inscription, bought special dishes, and was preparing to go to Ijevan to greet her grandson.”
It is reported that on the 175 km stretch of the Yerevan-Meghri road, near the village of Gorayk, a civil vehicle of the Mitsubishi Grandis brand was involved in an accident that resulted in the immediate death of two individuals, while five others were transported to medical facilities with varying degrees of bodily injuries. Preliminary reports indicate that the discharged soldiers were heading towards Yerevan in a taxi. Two discharged soldiers died as a result of the accident, while five others sustained injuries. One of the deceased was the driver, and the other was a passenger. Of the individuals who sought medical attention, two are in critical condition, two are in moderate condition, and one is in satisfactory condition.
