Zvartnots Airport Issues Statement Following Yesterday's Incident
Zvartnots International Airport has released a statement: “In anticipation of the busy summer season and the increase in flights and passenger flow, the airport is implementing all necessary measures to serve passengers as quickly as possible. We are increasing the number of staff to manage queues effectively and are engaging in coordinated efforts with border control services, which are not part of the airport’s services.
It is important to note that last year, the airport served a record number of passengers, exceeding 5.3 million. Despite this, we are making every effort to manage this influx and provide passengers with a pleasant travel experience. Due to weather conditions and schedule changes by airlines, flight delays can create unexpected congestion, resulting in long queues at the border crossing.
To make passenger travel comfortable and efficient, the airport and airlines offer various services, such as the 'Fast Track' and 'VIP' services available at the airport, as well as business class tickets offered by airlines and other various paid services. This is a widely accepted practice worldwide, and the airport is no exception in this regard.
We want to emphasize that within the scope of our authority, our team has done and will continue to do everything possible to manage the increased traffic more efficiently, committed to improving passenger experience and exploring various solutions.”
Earlier, we reported that there were horrific queues at Zvartnots, with people waiting for a long time to pass through passport control.
