China Promises Proportional Response to US Restrictions

China is prepared to give a proportional response to the restrictions imposed by the American administration if Washington does not change its policy. This statement was made to TASS by Liu Pengyu, the press secretary of the Chinese Embassy in the US, commenting on the visa restrictions placed on certain Chinese officials under the pretext of human rights protection.

According to him, the restrictive measures announced by the State Department are a gross violation of fundamental norms of international law and international relations. “China categorically rejects and condemns them,” the diplomat emphasized, noting that issues related to the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, the Tibetan Autonomous Region, and Hong Kong are internal affairs of China, and no foreign state has the right to interfere in them.

The press secretary of the Chinese diplomatic mission stated that Beijing urges the US to stop discrediting and to lift the illegal unilateral sanctions against Chinese officials.
