Hakob Arshakyan Comments on Erdogan's Statement
Armenia has sufficient will to establish peace. This statement was made by the Vice Speaker of the National Assembly, Hakob Arshakyan, during a conversation with journalists in the National Assembly while commenting on the announcement made by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
Erdogan stated that Ankara hopes Armenia and Azerbaijan will soon sign a peace treaty. “The Armenian side has repeatedly declared this. The people of Armenia and the authorities of the country are ready to establish peace,” said Arshakyan.
Regarding the statements coming from Baku concerning the Constitution of the Republic of Armenia, Arshakyan referred to this as “the internal affairs of the country.” He did not wish to comment on the remarks made by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin, stating that all issues related to Armenia's security system are decided by Armenian authorities. “The decisions we make stem from the security interests of the Republic of Armenia,” he emphasized.
It was noted that Mikhail Galuzin had stated yesterday that the Russian side deeply regrets that Armenia participated in the NATO summit. He expressed that by deepening cooperation with those whose aim is Russia's strategic defeat, Yerevan is risking serious destabilization of the situation in the South Caucasus, including to the detriment of its own security.
