Trump to Announce Vice Presidential Candidate Soon
Former U.S. President Donald Trump is set to reveal his choice for the vice presidential candidate in the coming days. This was reported on Tuesday by The Hill, citing sources.
According to the publication, the main contenders for the position remain Florida Senator Marco Rubio, Ohio Senator J.D. Vance, and North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum. However, the senators are considered the more likely options.
Trump is expected to announce his selection before the Republican Party convention, which is scheduled to begin on July 15. A source close to the former president's campaign indicated that Trump may reveal his candidate either during a primary event in Florida this Tuesday, at an event on Wednesday in Pennsylvania, or, most likely, at any time on his social media.
Nevertheless, both Rubio and Vance stated on Sunday that they are unsure if either of them will become Trump’s electoral partner.
U.S. President Joe Biden and Trump have both essentially won the internal party nominations for the Democratic and Republican parties but have not yet officially become presidential candidates. Their nominations will need to be confirmed at the party conventions. The Republican convention will take place in July, and the Democratic one in August.
The U.S. presidential elections are scheduled for November 5, 2024.
