Aliyev Invites Iran's Newly Elected President to Baku; Pezeshkian Responds with Invitation to Tehran
The President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, has called the newly elected President of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian, to congratulate him on his election to the presidency.
Masoud Pezeshkian, in turn, expressed gratitude to Aliyev. Azerbaijani media report that the Iranian president stated he would invest all efforts in the future to develop bilateral relations between the two countries across all sectors. “During the conversation, there was mutual confidence that Iranian-Azerbaijani relations, which are based on common religious and cultural roots, friendship, and brotherhood, will further expand, and cooperation covering various sectors will develop,” the statement noted.
Both parties emphasized the importance of implementing agreements reached between the countries and discussed issues of mutual interest. Aliyev invited the Iranian president to Baku, to which Pezeshkian responded by inviting Aliyev to Tehran.
