67 People Arrested in Turkey Following Syrians Arrested for Violence Against a Child
The Turkish police have arrested 67 individuals in the city of Kayseri following riots sparked by the arrest of a Syrian citizen for committing violence against a child. The information was shared by Ali Yerlikaya, head of the Republic's Ministry of Internal Affairs.
"On Sunday evening, after local residents apprehended the Syrian national who had assaulted his underage daughter, he was handed over to security forces. Some of our citizens, acting unlawfully, caused damage to homes, workplaces, and vehicles belonging to Syrian nationals. As a result of the intervention by security forces, 67 people were arrested," the minister wrote on X.
The incident has prompted widespread reactions in Turkey. According to official data, there are more than 3 million Syrian refugees living in the country.
