Burglary Incident in Yerevan: Window Grates Cut, Intruders Steal $2,000 and Watches Worth $60,300

According to SHAMSHYAN.com, a burglary incident took place in Yerevan on June 19. Around 10:25 AM, the Malatia Division of the Police received a report from 61-year-old Gayane P., a resident of Yerevan, stating that intruders had cut the window grates and entered the house located at 96/13 Sherami Street, owned by 45-year-old Artak Karapetyan, while Karapetyan was out of the country.

As reported by photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, an operational group from the Malatia Division of the police, led by Deputy Head of the Criminal Investigation Department Mkrtchyan, promptly responded to the scene. Upon arrival, police and forensic experts determined that the break-in had occurred between 22:30 on June 18 and 09:00 on June 19. The culprits had removed the iron grates from the first floor bedroom window of the two-story house and, by opening the bedroom window, managed to steal a small fireproof safe from the kitchen pantry, which contained $2,000, watches valued at $60,300, and other documents. They also attempted to open a larger fireproof safe but were unable to do so, halting their criminal activity due to unforeseen circumstances.

Documents have been prepared regarding the incident by the Malatia Division of the police and transferred to the Malatia Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia.
