Tragic Accident on Yerevan-Meghri Highway Results in Death
On June 29, at 23:35, the Vayots Dzor regional crisis management center received a report about a traffic accident near the city of Vayk, with casualties reported. This was announced by the rescue service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Armenia.
A response team from the regional rescue department and a firefighting rescue unit were dispatched to the scene. It was determined that a "VAZ" passenger vehicle (driver: G.G., born in 1991) had collided with a "KamAZ" freight truck (driver: V.T.) on the 135th kilometer of the Yerevan-Meghri highway. The driver and passengers of the VAZ vehicle were trapped inside the car, and there was a gas leak.
Rescuers stopped the gas leak and extricated the body of passenger H.H. (born in 1992) from the vehicle. They provided emergency assistance to the driver and passenger A.S. (born in 1998) before transporting them to an ambulance, while the body was placed in a coroner's vehicle. The injured individuals were hospitalized at a medical center, where their condition was assessed as moderate severity.
