Dagestan Leader Opposes Niqab Wear and Explains Why
The leader of Dagestan, Sergey Melikov, has declared his opposition to wearing the niqab due to security concerns. He emphasized that such attire is not typical for the peoples of the Caucasus.
“Personally, I am against the niqab, as this unusual clothing for the Caucasian peoples allows men to hide their identities, while women might carry prohibited items. From a counter-terrorism perspective, I am also opposed,” Melikov stated during a session of the People's Assembly.
