Azerbaijan Refuses to Disclose the Number of Armenians Remaining in Nagorno-Karabakh

Azerbaijani authorities are not providing information on the number of Armenians remaining in Nagorno-Karabakh following the attack on September 19. This was reported by "Azatutyun". The "Turan" news agency approached the office of the Azerbaijani Ombudsman, asking for details on how many Armenians remain in Nagorno-Karabakh, under what conditions they are living, and what country they are citizens of.

The response letter merely confirms that on March 28, the Ombudsman met with them. No additional information was provided. Instead, it was noted that according to the law, the Ombudsman’s office has the right to restrict information dissemination.

The food security of Armenians in the care home in Nagorno-Karabakh is the responsibility of the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs. The ministry has also not responded to "Turan"'s inquiries.

The agency published a photo showing seven elderly individuals dining in the care home, presumably Armenians who are alone, sick, and without homes.

Zara Amatuni, a representative of the International Committee of the Red Cross in Armenia, informed "Azatutyun" earlier in April that more than 50 individuals have been assisted in relocating to Armenia since October at their request.

According to some estimates from the Armenian side, the number of Armenians currently remaining in Artsakh is less than twenty.
